I am immediately suspicious of anything that claims to be the #1 selling blowjob machine in the world. You have probably seen it in porn all over the web and I believe it has made appearances in a movie or two. I am curious to see how they could have possibly made jacking off easier than it already was (up, down, repeat till finished). I picked up a Fleshlight and decided that it was time to see what all the fuss was about…
The Fleshlight was designed by former police officer Steve Shubin who was suffering a period of forced abstinence while his wife was in a high-risk pregnancy. The Fleshlight was initially deemed a “device for discreet sperm collection,” but we now know it as a cum dumpster.
The unique material that makes up the insert for the Fleshlight is at it’s core an elastomeric gel. This is important to know when you are picking out which lube to use because silicone and oil based lubricants can melt elastomers. This basically leaves us with water base lubricants.
The Fleshlight itself is rather large. Not my favorite thing in a toy. I like smaller oral sex machines that I can store easily if I want to, and the bulky size of the Fleshlight kinda takes away from my options beyond a dresser drawer. Fortunately for me I don’t care about storing my toys and just have them laying around my bedroom, but I can imagine someone with a less exhibitionist spirit being a little miffed by this.
You have to use a lot of lube with the Fleshlight. I assume that’s because the elastomer is porous and thus absorbs some of the lube that is applied to it. I squeezed out a good amount of water base lube before playing with this toy. Something that I wasn’t fond of was that it felt like it dried up faster than usual. The water base wasn’t doing it for me. I decided to hell with it and pulled out some silicone. Granted I may melt the thing but I wanted to actually enjoy it.
The silicone felt a lot better, though I still needed a lot of it. It should also be noted that at the opposite end of the Fleshlight is a twisting cap that you can tighten or loosen to increase or decrease the amount of suction that the toy creates.
One of the things that I like about jerking off with my hand is that I can control the pressure in the areas that I want it. With the Fleshlight, you can’t squeeze the case so you are basically just hoping that the material itself will feel nice. And it does, but it felt lacking.
Taking care of the sleeve is even more work. After you finish inside it, you need to remove the sleeve, run water through the hole to wash out your load, towel or air dry the sleeve, then put it back in the case. You need to make sure you dry it well because excess moisture can cause mold to grow. Ew. If you want to make the sleeve soft again, they suggest applying corn starch to the material.
Ok, I get it. It’s supposed to feel like another person. And if it wasn’t $60, it might feel like another person. But for what it does vs. what it requires, it feels like another person that I wouldn’t call back for a second date. Sorry Fleshlight. I like the idea, but I think there are other sleeves out there that are going to end up being a lot better bang for your buck.
